Product Description

La Bella Has Over 400 Years of String Making Experience The tradition of string making dates back to the 1640s in Salle, Italy, where the Mari family supplied gut strings to the famous violin builders of Cremona. In 1913, brothers Olinto & Emilio Mari arrived in New York bringing their family craft to the States. Over the years, the brothers shaped the landscape of the string industry with their innovative designs. Every set is manufactured using a perfect combination of traditional methods and latest technologies to produce a superior string. 1006 Supernil Double Bass String Set One of the best-selling sets since their introduction in 1962, Supernils are the strings for "slap" style used in Rock, Rock- a-billy, Bluegrass or Country & Western Swing. I'm actually writing this review almost 6 1/2 years after I purchased them... as I am getting ready to order another set. The only negative thing I have to say is that I'm a little disappointed that price has gone up $49.70 since I bought them in 2017. However, I am pleased enough with how they served me to go ahead and bite the bullet and buy them again. As far as the strings... Well... I'm buying them again so that should speak for itself! I actually just got another bass (an Engelhardt) yesterday and I'm not a fan of the strings that are currently on it. I'm more of a Bluegrass player where I pluck and slap... and the strings that are on this bass would be more orchestra... play with a bow... type strings. These "LaBella 1006 Supernil Nylon Wound Bass Strings" made my other bass... a cheap Japanese plywood bass... sound amazing! I actually had the chance to be in a jam session with J. D. Crowe a few years before he passed away and he even commented on how good my old bass sounded and he even asked me it was an old Kay. These strings are easy on the fingers. They are very well balanced and I couldn't be happier with them. I can't wait to hear them on this Engelhardt!!! I highly recommend them!!!
